Who runs this podcast? Is it affiliated with any legacy media or sponsor?

I am unsure who runs the podcast, but I found it on Youtube. It was the Rachel Maddow Show November 5, 2015 full show.  The Rachel Maddow Podcast seems to just be a repeat of the show on television. At the beginning of the podcast, Maddow made a comment about how the set looked different, which we cannot see. Maddow is the host of her own show on MSNBC. 

 What is the scope of the coverage on the story they are reporting? How in-depth do they go?

This show was recorded the day before Maddow was to moderate the democratic debate. Her podcast/show was really a dissection of not only the democratic candidates, but also the Republican ones.Rachel Maddow always goes in-depth.

 Any audio quality issues?

It sounded a little weird. It sounded as though there were conversations going on in the background. 

 If given the choice, would you rather read this story in print, or listen to this podcast?

Print. I am old-school. I like news stories in print. I do appreciate a good news video, but a podcast would never be my choice.
